I am a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and a licensed acupuncturist in both California and Massachusetts. I am also nationally board certified in Oriental medicine, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and biomedicine, and a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental and Reproductive Medicine (ABORM). In addition, I have a strong practice in functional medicine and nutrition, and have been certified in functional medicine by The Kalish Institute. I have also completed all coursework with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM).
I have had a passion for health and healing for over 40 years. I began my journey by earning a Master’s degree in nutrition from Columbia University in New York City. I wrote my Master’s thesis on premenstrual syndrome while interning at the first PMS clinic in the country. After moving to Boston, I studied Macrobiotics with Michio Kushi, learned how to meditate, and began a career in media. Initially helping to create multimedia exhibits for museums, aquariums and zoos, my main goal was to promote health and wellness programs. The chance to do that came after moving to Los Angeles where I worked on a Disney World exhibit called “Frontiers of Medicine.” I then became a producer on Deepak Chopra’s CD-Rom “The Wisdom Within: Your Personal Program for Total Well-Being,” where I oversaw the section on health. Later, I worked on another Chopra project as the Health Channel Producer for a website start-up called “MyPotential.com.”
At one point, I knew it was time to leave the world of media and pursue my calling as a healer. Having received acupuncture and herbal treatments, I was amazed by the power of Chinese medicine to fully relax and heal at the same time. Determined to give that gift to others, I earned a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I later received a doctorate degree with a specialty in women’s health and reproductive medicine from Yo San University in Los Angeles, a fully integrated, accredited program taught by both Western medical doctors and doctors of Chinese medicine.
During my doctorate program, I was introduced to Functional Medicine and saw the tremendous value of a natural medicine paradigm based on Western medicine. With my background in medicine and nutrition from Columbia University, it was a perfect fit. Being able to see a patient’s condition from both an Eastern and Western perspective has allowed me to help people heal in multi-dimensional ways.
I am devoted to the art of healing and grateful to have the opportunity to help others attain optimal health and wellness.
